KALW Radio did a piece today about San Francisco’s attempt to have some rules of engagement for the private commuter shuttles, aka Google Buses: Regulating the Google Buses: the SFMTA’s plan for private shuttles. They’re talking about fines for violations of these rules, but I’m wondering why they won’t just charge a user fee for using the public bus stops. On the bright side, at least there’s a conversation happening now and people are beginning to tune in to all sides of this story. For example, KALW asked if they could use my MUNI Bus vs Google Bus photo, which means they read my post What’s the matter with “The Google Bus?” about some of the broader effects of these private long-distance luxury shuttles.
